Research Speech Focused:

Creating a research speech meant presenting the knowledge I compiled, original work plan, and next steps. To me, all the information I present makes sense, but the main goal of this speech was to communicate what I’ve accomplished thus far and my plans for what is next in a manner that is clear and easy to follow for those who may not know or understand what I am talking about. To do this, I created a visual aid to assist while I presented my speech. However, this meant including minimal words and visual aids that keep the audience engaged.

I first gathered all my research, interviews, and original work plan. After compiling these into a more digestible plan, I began to create my visual aid while incorporating interesting images and quick bullet points to help my audience follow along. I then formulated my speech to go with the presentation. I began with discussing my background, information that I gathered in my field of interest, and then original work plan for my next steps following my proposal. When creating my speech, I had to lay out all the information in a way that was understandable to those who don’t have previous knowledge of the field. Carefully explaining my project and discussing the limitations helped better communicate my point.

Finally, my speech delivery was loud, clear, and I enunciated well. One thing I believe I could improve on is stuttering since I was nervous and began to stutter several times in the middle of my speech. Another thing I could improve on is my inflection, pausing and speaking more dramatically in some areas to maintain audience interest. My eye contact, however, was well maintained.
